COW Festival
Taking design to the Center of the World
[COW]
The COW Festival is a global forum that
showcases world-class design. Held in
Dnipropetrovsk, Ukraine, it attracts designers,
students and the public from Europe, Asia,
Australia and America.

Product Design. Interior Design. Fashion Design.
Why did we choose a cow to represent a design
festival?
Well, cows have been an important contributor to
humanity since the dawn of time, giving life and
health to their owners and “clients.” In ancient
Biblical times, cows were a measure of wealth.
In Norse mythology, the world began with a cow
created from melting frost. And in India, cows
represent all good things, including a “horn of
plenty.”
We can draw many parallels between cows and
designers; here are just a few:
• Cows supply milk and meat — life-giving
products. Designers give new life to clients’
products and services through their imaginations
and creativity.
• Cows symbolize wealth. Designers can help you
increase your wealth by meeting your bottom-line
targets.
• Cows are very productive — so are good
designers.
Our logo design
Our design diva,
Helen Baranovska,
and design guru,
Toli Menkiv, wanted the logo to
express the serious and the fun side of design.
• The cow’s legs are exclamation marks to
emphasize that designers have their feet firmly
on the ground, while the stylized hooves
symbolize the hallmark of quality.
• The udders are the sun, like bright design
ideas that banish your challenges.
• The horns are a crescent moon to remind you
that good design can send your clients over the
moon.
The COW acronym also represents the importance
we place on the design profession. To us, it is
the Center Of the World [COW].
Cow power!
We encourage designers to join our
Facebook
album and discuss their ideas on how cows relate
to the design profession— and share your
experiences from the Festival.
